The role
We are looking for SQL Database Administrator who is confident to be in a data base administration position responsible for handling
and supporting Database environments as well as its users. Previous experience as a DBA is a must have. Technically, we are looking
for someone with good skills with MS SQL Server 2016, SQL Server Management Studio and basic knowledge of Window Server 2016.
This person will be responsible for the management and maintenance of a SQL platform housing Commercial Pricing data marts, have
the ability to back up, restore, upgrade and migrate when required and take ownership and thoroughly investigate tickets using their
troubleshooting, problem solving and performance tuning skills.
The role also includes management of an Alteryx server and scheduling of jobs so knowledge of Alteryx is an advantage.
Who you'll be working with
You'll be working within the Data Enabling Tribe at the centre of the business and working closely with Commercial Pricing. You'll be
required to work some weekends and some evenings to implement and/or support platform changes and incidents, however most of
the time this will be flexible with hours and working patterns.
What you'll be doing
- You will be a development focused DBA as the large part of the role involves to proactively assist Commercial with their
- development work, provide advice, troubleshoot performance issues and be the gate keeper ensuring nothing gets
- deployed that doesn't meet the standards.
- You will be responsible for working on new projects/implementations as well as supporting existing deployed code and
- applications for the on premise and cloud solutions.
- You will work on Platform development projects including many streams from different parties.
- You will be the gate keeper ensuring nothing gets deployed that doesn't meet our development standards.
- You support production incidents.
- You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle from requirements analysis through to design, development sprints
- and testing phases.
What we're looking for
As a team player, you'll exhibit good communication skills, but you'll also be able to use your own initiative and demonstrate personal
effectiveness when working alone.
Technical abilities
- Excellent, hands-on DBA experience in MS SQL server, setting up schemas and best practice. Essential.
- Good understanding of cloud based technologies such as AWS / Azure.
- Working knowledge of Alteryx server / Designer desirable.
- You'll also be educated to at least degree level (or equivalent).
