As a university, we seek to empower staff to manage their own Mental Health and wellbeing whilst also providing a route of dedicated support to staff where needed. The Staff Mental Health Adviser role is instrumental in helping us to achieve our objectives.
To succeed in this role, you will be a qualified Mental Health practitioner, able to apply your skills and experience in a work context. You will be focused on collaborative practical solutions with an ability to build relationships with key stakeholders to arrive at the best outcomes for staff.
Primarily, the role will be to provide efficient and effective triage, coordination and support for Staff Mental Health needs, utilising resources and expertise available from both within the University and specialist external organisations and support services. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of an inclusive working environment and workplace culture, in which Mental Health is openly discussed and supported.
As an internal expert, you will provide guidance and advice to line managers and HR colleagues on the management of Mental Health needs.

You will be an integral member of the Staff Wellbeing Team that sits within the Organisational Development part of the Human Resources department. The team is responsible for the delivery of projects and services aimed at supporting all staff to thrive during their working lives at the University. Our work includes support for staff experiencing Mental Health challenges, creating inclusive working environments for disabled staff and a neuro-inclusive workplace, support for key life stages such as the menopause and for those with caring responsibilities, amongst many others.
