We are looking to appoint a Qualified BSL Support Worker, or somebody who is willing to work towards this title, to join our team at Tyne House. We are a small residential home in Jesmond providing a safe, secure, positive and structured environment which supports individuals’ specific and complex needs.
You could earn £21,575.00 - £23,620.00 per year, based on 37 hours, and the level of experience you have.
The successful candidate will be qualified in BSL level 1, 2 or 3, however we are also currently offering this opportunity to experienced Support Workers who are ready to take that next step in to a new challenge willing to complete this qualification alongside the role. Our main priority for this job role is to find people with the right values, behaviours and attitudes that match our own! Above all we want someone that shares our values including:
- a commitment to quality and being the best we can
- providing excellent care and support to all of our residents
- showing dignity and respect to the people that they will be working with
- working well together as part of our team.
As part of the team at Tyne House you will be supporting our residents with hearing impairments with their ongoing development and daily living. Ensuring our residents needs are met by following support plans and providing individuals with practical and emotional care enabling further independence and achieving positive outcomes.
Residents communicate through BSL, VOCA's, word boards, print symbols and pictures. Successful candidates will encourage and promote effective communication for all our residents.
You will encourage and support our residents to carry out all daily household tasks such as shopping, cooking tidying and washing. Successful candidates will support with administration of medications and some personal care tasks. There are also times when our residents will need support with managing behaviours of concern. Where there are training needs identified these will be provided.
Residents are encouraged to be part of the community and staff support them to access social events and activities such as the local pub, deaf community groups, bowling and swimming to name but a few.
This service provides round the clock residential care so you must be fully flexible Monday - Sunday from 7am to 10pm.
If this role sounds perfect for you, we would love to hear from you!
