Request

Are you a fun and motivated person who loves going the extra mile to improve the lives of others?

Is it important for you to have a satisfying job where you feel supported?

If this sounds like you, maybe a Support Worker role with an award-winning charity is the change you’ve been looking for?

We are recruiting for Support Workers to support individuals within their own homes in the Niddrie and Gilmerton areas of Edinburgh

The people we support have faced a lot of challenges in the past because of their learning disabilities, Autism and mental and physical health issues, but this hasn’t stopped them from enjoying life! They enjoy lots of activities, including going to parties, shopping, going to the cinema, eating out, travelling, playing sports and spending time with friends and family.  However, they’re always up for trying new things, so are looking for inventive people who are up for the challenge.

Our support team are very diverse and work well together to ensure the people we support are happy and safe in their own homes.  This can include:

Supporting them with medication
Cooking
Assisting with personal care
Maintaining the homes of people supported and managing their finances

Our team provide support 24 hours a day, so we are looking for some flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends, sleepovers and occasional waking nights if required.  We are looking for part-time (24+ hours) and full-time Support Workers and our shift patterns are:

7.30am – 9.30pm
8am – 9.30pm
8am to 9pm
9am – 9pm
9am – 11pm
11pm – 7am (sleepovers)

Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them.  For the Niddrie service, a female colleague is required. For the Gilmerton service, we would welcome male or female staff.  This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010

Benefits

The people we support like to be supported by people who respect them and their homes, but who also like to have fun!  They like people who are reliable and honest, so they can build trust and know that you have their best interests at heart.
