Role Overview:
As a Surgical First Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting surgical procedures, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients throughout the surgical process. Your responsibilities will include assisting surgeons during procedures, providing surgical instruments and equipment, and maintaining a sterile field. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work alongside a talented surgical team and make a positive impact on patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, anticipating their needs and providing necessary instrumentation and supplies
- Ensure the sterile field is maintained throughout the procedure, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Perform surgical tasks under the direction of the surgeon, including tissue handling, suturing, and hemostasis
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe patient care delivery
- Participate in pre-operative preparations and post-operative care activities as required
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, equipment used, and patient outcomes
Qualifications:
- Relevant qualification as a Surgical First Assistant or equivalent
- Proven experience working in a surgical environment, preferably within a theatre or hospital setting
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
