We are looking for someone to #JoinUs as a Detective Constable within our Organised Crime Team based at Unit 2. Could you be who we are looking for?
About the team/Department you will be joining:
The role of the Organised Crime Team is to target, dismantle and disrupt Organised Crime Groups operating within South Wales through both overt and covert methods.
About the role and your key responsibilities:
To perform covert foot and mobile surveillance using vehicles, to gather
information, intelligence and/or evidence. You will need to drive safely
during surveillance operations, positioning the vehicle appropriately and
exploiting advantages
To gather and evaluate all material in relation to the investigation and to
develop and maintain an investigation strategy to maximise the amount of
material gathered, and to protect the integrity of that material.
To plan and prepare for the interview by developing an interview strategy
and written plan, assessing the interviewee's fitness for interview, and
setting up an appropriate location. You must conduct the interview in
accordance with legislation, policy and other guidelines using appropriate
interviewing techniques and communication skills.
What skills and experience do we need you to bring to the role:
Must be Q1 surveillance trained
Must have previous experience, skills and training surrounding investigations into serious organised crime.
Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications and Niche.
Experience of interrogating, maintaining and utilising data on a variety of computerised systems, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Experience of researching information from a variety of sources.
Skilled in using specialised and standard software related to own area of work to extract, analyse and report on data.
Ability to write detailed reports and present information in a variety of formats.
Able to communicate with a range of stakeholders to provide information and intelligence and ensure understanding.
Able to identify potential opportunities to enhance efficiency and/or effectiveness within own area of work, including developing own knowledge to increase effectiveness.
Able to break down a problem into component parts and determine appropriate action.
Good team working skills demonstrating awareness of individual differences and providing support as required.
Able to appropriately prioritise and plan own work.
Able to proactively develop effective working relationships with colleagues, partners and other stakeholders.

The successful Candidate must be willing to undergo vetting to MV/SC Vetting.
