Why the Sustainable Finance Summer Intern Programme?
As a summer analyst you will enter a supportive, collaborative environment known for its pace. During your internship, you will support the Climate Portfolio Management team, who is responsible for managing Barclays sectoral decarbonization strategies. This front office role, will help further new sectoral targets to reduce attributed carbon from Barclays exposures, including recommending the right ambition of target to be set for management to review. This will require developing detailed analytical knowledge of client decarbonization pathways and levers and interacting with the key bankers covering the sector. An additional objective of this internship, supporting the Head of Sustainable Finance Strategy Execution, would be providing crucial analytical support and input to the development of Barclays ESG data strategy.
Sustainable Finance
The Sustainable Finance team is tasked with managing the Corporate & Investment Bank's transition to become a more sustainable lender and its primary purpose is driving Barclays ambition to become a market leading Sustainable Finance franchise. The team oversees and manage the implementation of multiple projects that are key to Barclays' ambition to deliver USD $1 trillion in sustainable and transition finance by the end of 2030.
Who we're looking for
To be considered for this programme, you must be in your penultimate or final year of your degree, in any discipline.
Ideally, you'll have a keen interest in finance and business. We value resourcefulness, teamwork, enthusiasm and an entrepreneurial spirit, all of which might be showcased through your involvement in extracurricular activities.
The role ideally requires an understanding of Sustainable Finance, a strong Climate / ESG interest would be preferable. Comfort with modelling in python / querying sql / AWS would be advantageous.
The interested candidate will possess an understanding of the ESG data landscape, as well as a keen interest in how AI can advance our use of technology solutions to support our Sustainable Finance agenda.
