Boeing Defence UK is looking for a System Administrator based in Waddington, Lincolnshire to support the MoD Gladiator project. Working on site, 5 days per week, this role will involve contributing to the delivery and sustainment within a specialized IT environment supporting a dedicated program of work within the Boeing portfolio.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the critical IT services in support of the Gladiator programme, where customer service and IT performance is paramount.
Based on site at Waddington, you will be involved in the IT Infrastructure system administration and integration including hardware and software installations, and the configuration and deployment of workstations, servers and network devices. Monitoring and maintaining all IT Infrastructure services to ensure system performance and stability.
As a System Administrator you will be working within a small team of peers managing daily tasks and administration activities, responding to incidents, managing support tickets to resolution as well as system improvement and upgrade activities. This role will provide an excellent opportunity for a competent IT systems administrator to learn and test their skills in a unique and challenging working environment and gain experience of a wide range of technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Delivery and maintenance of IT Infrastructure and services aligned to industry and Boeing enterprise best practices.
- Responding to system events, user requests and incidents logged in management systems.
- Performing analysis of log files, systems, and network traffic.
- Vulnerability assessment and remediation.
- System Hardening.
- System Administration of RHEL and Windows Operating Systems.
- Identify and raise technical challenges and limitations within the infrastructure estate.
- Providing comprehensive and timely communications to key stakeholders.
- Working to well-defined SLAs & KPIs.
Required Skills and Experience
- Working experience with Linux operating systems ideally RHEL 7x, 8x, 9x
- Windows Server (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Certificate Management, WSUS)
- Windows Desktop deployment and configuration.
- VMWare vCentre & HCI (HP Simpivity) (Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure)
- Network Infrastructure (Switches / Firewalling / Routing technologies)
- Microsoft Exchange On-Prem.
