Job Description

All roles within Engineering are vital to ensuring safe and reliable operation during our journey through Generation, Defueling and Decommissioning.

Pay, benefits and culture

We're offering a starting salary typically £40,069 to £71,779.  The starting salary for the appointment will be dependent on your existing salary, competence, experiences and qualification. The full salary range for the role is £40,069 to £84,892.  The terms and conditions will be covered by the EDF Company Agreement. We also offer an attractive pension scheme along with some great company benefits!

At EDF, everyone's welcome. We strive to create an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone has a voice and where you feel confident being yourself. Be a responsible engineer for assigned plant areas and act as the technical conscience for the assigned systems.

  • Gain expertise in the assigned system(s) and provide technical advice.
  • Ensure important equipment is identified and that correct preventative maintenance programmes are in place to prevent unanticipated equipment failures.
  • Manage activities that are to be carried out and completed with full regard to site licence requirements, statutory regulations, company and location directives, procedures and safety rules.
  • Monitor and review system performance to identify degrading trends.

  • Determine required actions and investments, including specifying, upgrading and deploying new components, systems and technologies.
  • The engineering department is responsible for delivering the station's multi million pound plant investment plan and as a System Engineer you will be key to supporting this.

You will be motivated and be happy working on your own and as part of a team.

  • You will have an Engineering background with relevant experience in industry; experience in the nuclear industry or conventional power generation would be beneficial.  We are particularly interested in people with a Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Controls & Instrumentation (EC&I) background but will happily consider applicants with experience in other disciplines.

  • Communication, interpersonal skills, technical knowledge, and organisational skills.

The company has a structured engineering training programme that can be tailored based on existing experience.  Please note that the current team is flexible and the exact position will vary dependent on the experience that you bring.
