We are looking for someone with previous permanent agency side recruitment experience (non-negotiable) who is looking for an inclusive, trans-owned and multi-award winning agency to grow their career at - working directly with the CEO.
About Us
After launching Lightning at the tail end of 2019 (pre-pandemic), thanks to everyone’s incredible support, the business has gone from strength to strength, and we are now a well-known and exclusive brand within the luxury travel, lifestyle and hospitality recruitment spaces, priding ourselves on being the change we want to see.
We're also proud activists who constantly fight for the travel industry to be better. You might have seen our '85% of CEOs are white men' candle featured in the Metro, Unilad, or Independant. Or did you catch our Trans Non-Binary finery CEO Thea featured in Forbes? We're always fighting to make the industry a better place and using our platform to speak up for marginalised communities.
Activism aside, we're also pretty epic when it comes to recruitment. We've got over 100 five-star Google Reviews, and it brings us all the joy to say that we truly value and get to know PEOPLE. It's what makes our service so awesome and why we're looking for someone as passionate about both the industry and the people within it to join us.
We were proud winners of 'best recruitment company to work - for 1-9 employees' in Recruiter's investing in talent awards '24 and are winners of 'most inclusive travel + lifestyle recruitment agency' at Luxlife's 2023 awards, so we're also a pretty epic place to work.
The Role: Talent Team Lead
We're looking for someone who is super passionate about people and knows how to get the best out of them, sh*t hot when it comes to systems and processes and is passionate about growth + targets.
Coming into the business in a pivotal growth year, you'll be joining us during a CRM changeover & data cleanse, a huge marketing operations investment & implementation period and will be leading a small team (2 full-time, 1 part-time) who all have under 2 years recruitment experience, to succeed. Yeah, it's going to be in at the deep end vibes!
As of right now, the business has been operating as a founder-led startup, so this role will review current procedures, suggest best practices, and implement new ways of working. It will also cement old ways and build out an operational guide to ensure the team is future-proofed and set up for success.
This role for the first year will be focusing heavily on foundations and processes, getting the best out of the current team, and giving the founder time to focus on launching new products and focus on biz growth and business development. Once this has been done, the role will evolve alongside company growth + ed&i plans to encompass more inc biz dev + team growth.
This role will also involve some direct recruiting yourself - billing both through the team and also contributing with your own end-to-end revenue generation, so it's a really hands-on role.
You will also be targeted for the performance of the team (as well as setting them targets) and will be vetting inbound leads and matching them to consultants, ensuring that our close rate (we only work exclusively) is super high - supporting consultants to succeed, our CRM and candidate + client data is up to date as well as the process + operational duties mentioned above.
We don't cold call for new business or e-market jobs to our candidates—we are all about relationships and top-level service, so we need someone who leads with these values.
Day to Day
- Having a clear overview of all active recruitment processes and ensuring consultants are set up for success to close roles
- Developing a client check in process and ensuring team are adhering to it
- Ensuring both yourself and the team are visible on LinkedIn, posting at least twice a week
- Hitting monthly sales targets for company
- Providing support to the team in 1:1 meetings when needed
- Leading weekly team meetings and keeping CEO up to date with forecasting
- Reviewing processes and best practice and ensuring company is set up for success
- Ensuring reports are set up to provide snapshot into recruitment and database (CRM) is up to date with clean data
- Ensuring 'sales' are informing our marketing team with insights (right now the CEO, but soon to be freelance marketer, we have a full marketing operations guide that's been built)
- Reviewing current company profiles, roles + sales and advising on gaps that BD needs to fill to ensure a well rounded sales plan
- Ensuring team are hitting monthly targets via 360 recruitment
- Ensuring team has a business development strategy + are actively floating candidates
About You
- This role would suit someone with previous permanent recruitment agency experience that is looking for more flexibility in a role and has proven experience of getting results from small teams previously
- Strategic mindset and loves systems, processes and operations
- We're looking for someone who is a leader who leads by example and isn't afraid to muck in - someone who has a strong personal brand and values

- Is an advocate for diversity and LGBTQ rights. Is comfortable working for a proudly trans owned business.
- Permanent placement experience only (agency side any sector) exclusive/exec search highly desirable.
