ABOUT SOUL ASSEMBLY


Soul Assembly is an exciting and rapidly growing games developer, currently consisting of 70+ employees.


We have created some of the most high profile and most purchased titles in the XR space today, from our lovely offices in the heart of Leamington Spa. RESPONSIBILITIES


This is a role where we will give you the chance to work on a current project that is a globally known and beloved game and where no day will be the same as the other. There is always a new challenge or opportunity to bring your skills and talents to the game! You will be the person who enjoys a challenge and puzzle, this role will help others unlock the potential and bring their work to life.


By becoming our Experienced Technical Artist, we will give you the chance to be the bridge between teams and be a key player in making our games the visual and immersive experience that the talented artists and programmers want it to be.


As a Technical Artist you will enjoy collaborating and working closely with our art, design and programming teams to ensure that art elements are optimised for performance.


This role will also give you the opportunity to take the lead on improving art pipelines and overall visual quality and help us to keep Assets / Content within memory budget and performance guidelines.


You will have the ability to drive, refine and document tech art best practices within the studio, working with the other disciplines across the studio to ensure standards and processes are reviewed regularly to ensure efficiency and quality, while also proactively identifying new technologies and techniques that will improve our games for the player.


REQUIRED SKILLS


  • Experience in Unity or Unreal
  • High proficiency in 3D authoring tools, such as Maya, Substance Painter/Designer, Marmoset, ZBrush
  • Experience with shader creation and exposure to HLSL or similar
  • Skill with engine particle systems for VFX creation
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively
  • A passion for games and game visuals
  • Shipped at least one title as a Technical Artist or similar role

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS


  • Exposure to C#, Python or Mel in scripting tools (such as game engines or authoring tools)
  • Modern VR experience (e.g. Meta Quest, Steam VR headsets)
  • Experience profiling and debugging performance issues on device
