We’re looking for a Technical Development Underwriter to join our high-performing Underwriting department in our Bristol offices. The successful candidate will provide critical technical support to the trading underwriting team in analysis of the performance and pricing. This is a great opportunity to hold responsibility for developing the technical capabilities of the trading underwriters through the delivery of individual and group training. The role will support with the internal referrals and sign off and will work across the ARAG and DAS underwriting functions. You’ll also look to support the Head of BTE Underwriting with related projects aligned to the integration of the underwriting functions, performance reporting and frameworks.
In addition, key responsibilities will include:
- Building appropriate underwriting capabilities and create a culture where people want to be and do their best.
- Providing technical input into training materials in support of the 'Technical' academy.
- Developing and deliver in depth technical guidance and support in-depth reviews of account performance.
- Providing analytical insight into account portfolio, feeding observations and anticipated partner and solicitor needs into the reviews
- Effectively managing data, ensuring data is accurately processed into the insurance platform by operational teams.
- Managing and process risk data in a standard way, and make it accessible to the right people, through the right applications and systems, at the right times.
- Analysing risk data to understand and monitor our risk portfolio across all products and business partners when required
- Supporting the head of BTE underwriting through the integration of the underwriting function and with future Underwriting projects
- Assuming ownership of business risk, escalating or inquiring about risk management concerns to second line of defence.
