Job Description

Technical Product Manager - Commercial Tech

We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven Product Manager to be responsible for the product roadmap and delivery of commercial products, technology and digital advertising across News UK with a focus on The Times, The Sunday Times, Broadcasting and Commercial Technology portfolios. You will work closely with senior stakeholders to implement and develop website and app features and improvements that align with commercial strategies. You will support the full product life cycle from product initiation to delivery and release by our engineering team. Commercial Operations & Technology is a thriving team focused on the ongoing maintenance, protection and growth of commercial revenues. We are continuously improving and building on our commercial capabilities through experimentation and innovative technology across websites and apps.

Y our role as Technical Product Manager:

  • Work closely with the programme manager and key commercial stakeholders to help develop, maintain and deliver a product roadmap across websites and apps.
  • Support the business with capturing initiatives and aligning development dependencies in quarterly planning (PI Planning) processes.

  • Collaborate with programme manager and commercial leadership to prioritise product roadmap and align with overarching KPIs and objectives across commercial engineering projects and cross-functional projects within the business.

  • Champion commercial products to ensure they are a key consideration in product, design and engineering, and ensure commercial stakeholders provide insights, requirements and decisions from project inception, working closely with teams within our brands and maintaining high levels of communication and collaboration.

  • Proactively monitor and analyse commercial performance and data to support roadmap progress and identify continuous improvements.

  • Build business cases and present product visions/opportunities to wider business and senior stakeholders.

  • Work closely with our business analyst and engineering team to assemble well defined product requirements and technical solutions.

  • Support project managers to ensure successful and timely delivery of products that meet the highest quality standards.

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Experience in a product management role, with a track record of technical achievement.
  • Significant and demonstrable experience in leading complex digital products in a fast moving environment.

  • Experience with managing a technical roadmap for websites and/or app development

  • Strong communication, presentation and relationship management skills.

  • Demonstrable influencing and storytelling skills to justify priorities and product decisions.

  • Uses initiative to proactively identify new product opportunities

  • Understanding of data analysis and stakeholder feedback loops to drive continuous improvement.

  • Commercial or advertising knowledge and experience is a significant benefit.

  • Understanding of website or app development life cycles.

  • Eager and quick to learn.
