About the Shadow Robot Company
The Shadow Robot Company is an established, employee-owned, international and world-leading robotics company.
Our Head of Product Development is taking a 6-month sabbatical this year; so we’re looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager, or it may be a Product Development Manager within TRL1-5 projects experience.

What will you be doing, and what does success look like?
With your expertise, Shadow’s projects will run smoothly, aligning with our business goals.
You’ll coordinate our team of expert engineers, maximising the team’s productivity.
You’ll be the day-to-day face of our company for our external partners, giving them the confidence that our collaborations are moving along successfully.
Your Impact as our Product Development / Technical Project Manager
- You’ll be a key member of our London-based HQ alongside our R&D/hardware, software engineers and management team.
- You’ll work on highly challenging and stimulating projects, providing leadership to our engineering team.
- With your expertise and experience as a Product Development Manager or a Technical Project Manager, Shadow can further develop and excel at what they do best… continue to create awesome robots for advancing dexterity.
To be successful in this role, we’d love to hear from you if you have the following experience and personality:
- Experience working as a Product Development Manager in robotics or similar electromechanical technology development.
- Proven management experience in engineering consultancy projects.
- Managing internal Product Development projects.
- Experience in project/product requirements identification, tracking and validation.
- Excellent people management and leadership skills - you’re likeable, respected, and have good emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
- Thorough understanding of project management such as risk analysis, budgeting, resourcing, project planning, work planning (Gantt chart), reporting, and forecasting of activities - please note this is not a pure PM role; it’s a leadership role which will make full use of your project management expertise.
- Ability to facilitate the development of technology roadmaps in line with business goals.
- Strong communication skills for team and client/partner management
- Proactive leading skills such as meetings, projects and team activities
- You’re very organised - structured communication and attention to detail is vital to how you optimise teams and projects.
- You’re a natural problem solver.
- Ideally, the experience of working at a technology SME.
- Ideally, experience within a Scrum/Agile environment and Jira platform.
- You’re numerate (budgets and project finance tracking).

We are considering a salaried PAYE fixed-term person for this role, or if you prefer to invoice us every month, we could consider this also.
Based: Gospel Oak, London (about 2 mins walk from the station)
Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 p.a. with a little wiggle room for the right robotics background
Basis and Duration: PAYE - 6 months fixed term contract or consultancy
Package and benefits: Contribution Pension Scheme, 28 days holiday per year (in addition to Bank Holidays), Employee Assistance Programme
