Technical Sales Engineer

About the role:
GMT Rubber-Metal-Technic Ltd is the UK based Technical Sales and distribution centre for a large global organisation.
Founded in 1968, GMT’s main business is the design, manufacture, and sales of anti-vibration mountings and rubber-to-metal bonded products for use by most industrial sectors including Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Railways, Marine and Construction – indeed anywhere there is a need to isolate vibration and/or absorb shock.
GMT are now seeking a Project Engineer / Applications Engineer / Technical Sales Engineer to work within our team supporting new and existing customer requirements and enquiries. The role is office-based and will primarily involve working on incoming customer enquiries and leads.
Technical Sales Engineer Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Interpreting customer requirements both technically and commercially
- Dealing with customers day-to-day enquiries primarily by telephone, email, web calls and meetings
- Discussing engineering applications with customers and making commercial proposals
- Using in house calculations to select the most appropriate product for each application
- Developing technical documentation to support the sales function
- Collaborating with customers and GMT colleagues globally to develop new products for specific applications
- Generating new sales opportunities
- Supporting the quality engineering function through testing and inspection of parts
- Creating technical drawings/models for products in CAD.
- Project managing multiple sales, design and application projects running concurrently
Skills and Experience
- Engineering qualification (ideally to degree level in Mechanical Engineering (or similar))
- Experience in an Application Engineering/Technical sales/Project Engineering or customer facing role beneficial but not essential as training will be provided
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience of using CAD software
- Good computer literacy
