Job Title: Accounts Assistant
Job Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our clients finance team as an Accounts Assistant. The Accounts Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the wider business, focussing on accounts payable and receivable, expense management, and financial record-keeping. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
- Process invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Verify and reconcile vendor statements.
- Prepare and process payment runs.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
Accounts Receivable:
- Generate and send out invoices to customers.
- Follow up on overdue payments and communicate with customers regarding outstanding balances.
- Record customer payments in the accounting system.
- Reconcile accounts receivable ledger.
Expense Management:
- Review and process employee expense reports.
- Ensure compliance with company expense policies.
- Reconcile expense accounts and prepare reports for management review.
Financial Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare financial reports as needed.
General Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support to the finance team as required.
- Assist with ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Studying towards a professional certification (e.g. AAT, ACCA).
- Knowledge of relevant accounting regulations and standards.
