Taylor Root is working on an excellent opportunity for a Data Privacy Counsel to join their Legal & Data Privacy team on a 9 Month FTC (Maternity Cover). The role can be a full-time or part-time position. This role will report to the Senior Vice President of Legal, is based in London and will have one direct (non-legal) report. They have a hybrid work policy of at least two days in the office.
Responsibilities
● Provide clear, high-quality legal advice and support on Data Privacy and data protection matters across the Group
● Work with senior management to inform and shape the current and future B2C and B2B data strategy of the Group in a manner that is compliant with the Group’s legal and regulatory obligations
● Identify and implement improvements and enhancements to our Data Privacy compliance processes to support the Group’s data strategy
● Keep up to date with, and understand, relevant Data Privacy laws and regulations globally and advise the business teams in respect of any measures to be implemented
● Lead on the response to any Data Privacy regulatory requests
● Draft, review and negotiate various data protection agreements and data protection elements of key commercial contracts being entered into by the Group
● Develop, manage and maintain relationships with external Data Privacy Counsel
● Educate and train employees, not only on Data Privacy principles and regulations, but also the impact on the organisation if these aren’t complied with, through Group training resources or sessions
● Support with process improvement for data subject access requests (DSAR) and providing input on completing complex DSAR
Experience and Skills
To succeed in this role it would be an advantage if you possess:
● Admitted as a lawyer in the UK or a relevant EU jurisdiction
● CIPP/E, CIPM, ISEB Certificate or equivalent Data Privacy qualification considered an asset
● At least 4 years post-qualification experience
● Ability to collaborate across a wide range of business stakeholders to drive initiatives through to conclusion
● A risk-based mindset able to succinctly identify critical areas of concern and construct legally-compliant, commercially-viable solutions
● Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including distilling complex legal and technical issues into clear, concise messaging to a wide variety of audiences including executive leadership
● Experience in dealing with global privacy and data-related regulatory frameworks
● Full and working knowledge of GDPR, UK GDPR and data protection as well as awareness of other Data Privacy laws around the world
