Description of the Business Line or Department
SG Kleinwort Hambros Bank UK Ltd (SGKHBUKL) performs Regulatory Reporting on a UK Consolidated level which is at the SG Kleinwort Hambros Group level. This level of reporting incorporates the UK bank, CI & Gibraltar branches as well as the SG Kleinwort Hambros Group Holding company. Additionally, the SGKHBUKL also performs solo reporting for the UK Bank on its own.
This role is within the Regulatory Reporting team which produces this reporting and forms part of the Kleinwort Hambros (KH) Finance (DFIN) department. The team is split into two areas which focus on Run-the-bank (RTB) i.e Production and Change-the-bank (CTB) i.e Projects/Changes. This role will be a Trainee / Analyst role and will predominantly focus on CTB and assist in the changes and projects side of Regulatory Reporting. From time-to-time there may be a need to support production to keep up-to-date with production processes which is key to assisting in making changes and improvements to this area.
The UK Regulatory Reporting team also perform the local Regulatory Reporting for the Gibraltar and Channel Island (Guernsey and Jersey) branches.
The Regulatory Reporting team aid and are involved with other team functions such as Treasury, Asset Liability Management (ALM), Financial Risk and Compliance. The teams engage in discussions and support various ongoing Regulatory projects and initiatives.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
  • The role will assist in the day to day running of CTB tasks and various project initiatives.
  • Pro-actively seeking improvements in all areas and implementing these efficiencies.
  • The role will be actively involved with other team functions, engaging in business liaison discussions and various ongoing Regulatory projects. Provide pro-active and positive support to the CTB team and other areas within the bank during a challenging ongoing period of Regulatory change.
  • This role will involve liaison with external vendors.

Summary of responsibilities
  • Co-ordinate with various internal and external stakeholders to fulfil CTB objectives and deliverables.
  • Assist with frequent testing cycles of Regulatory Reporting tool in respect of upgrades, enhancements and other changes in reporting requirements.
  • Review and analyse testing outputs including static data issues against expected results and work closely with other team members to resolve any anomalies.
  • Pro-actively seek improvements to current testing processes and help document and implement improvements.
  • Provide cover across CTB tasks when staff are absent or working on other projects.
  • Ensure all the necessary control checks are performed.
  • Organize meetings, take minutes, distribute agenda and follow up any action points.
  • Assist in Reconciliations to appropriate independent sources to control accuracy of reporting.
  • First line of analysis review of the testing outputs where issues are identified, recorded, tracked and ultimately resolved.
  • Assist with Monthly Regulatory Change forum including preparation and distribution of review packs. Send out chasers and reminders to engage various stakeholders across the Bank.
  • Investigation of CTB related issues, sharing and helping to resolve where possible.
  • Liaising with the wider Regulatory team and working with them to implement constant ongoing improvements to processes.
  • Assist in updating of CTB procedures and policy documents.
  • Actively working on solutions for simplifying, streamlining and providing automations where appropriate.

Profile required

  • Some understanding of double entry accounting or basic accounting understanding
  • Some understanding via research conducted online or via an extracurricular activity on Regulatory Reporting standards and industry reporting requirements would be an advantage. This could be items like Liquidity, Capital, Market Risk, Large Exposures or Credit Risk.
  • Some understanding via either experience or training of business processes, standards, policies and procedures with a keen desire to apply internal controls
