Job description

Advanced practitioners enhance capacity and capability within multi-professional teams by supporting existing and more established roles. They help to improve clinical continuity helping to provide safe, accessible high-quality care for patients.
The Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice is looking for experienced advanced or consultant practitioners / clinicians who understand the Advanced Practice framework and can support all aspects of training, supervision, job roles and workforce need for advanced practitioners. They will report to the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice and support the National Centre for Advancing Practice work on Advanced Practice, feeding into the NHSE Advancing Practice Steering Group.
There are 4 TPD positions open for application.
This is initially a 12-month secondment (potential for extension dependent upon budget) for 1 to 2 days a week in one of the following clinical areas.
  • End of Life Care / Community (0.2 WTE)
  • Cancer & Diagnostics (0.2 WTE)
  • Paediatrics / Neonates/ Maternity (0.2 WTE)
  • Acute Care (0.2 WTE)
The role is to work with and support the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice in leading the delivery of a wide range of functions, aligned to the NHS England mandate.
Fixed Term Contract or Secondments
Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement must be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.
The Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice is looking for clinicians to support the development and delivery of Advanced Practice roles within the following specialities ( Cancer & Diagnostics, End of Life Care / Community, Paediatrics / Neonates / Maternity, Acute Care ). They will report to the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice and support the National Centre for Advancing Practice advancing practice agenda.
The Faculty for Advancing Practice reserves the right to amend the speciality areas listed above to comprehensively cover the Advanced Practice requirements across the North West region and match the attributes of the applicants.

This is an evolving job role and working in liaison with senior stakeholders and colleagues. You will be working across NHSE and its local teams to collect and share good practice and working closely with external stakeholders to create the environment, levers and policy to deliver crucial transformation in Advanced Practice education and training. The post holder will have the opportunity to influence and shape the role as it develops and offer innovative ideas to transform the education and training of future advanced practitioners.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.
Working with the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice, and reporting to the Supervision and Assessment Lead, the TPD's will work in all aspects of Advanced Practice training.
They will liaise with Universities, Trusts, Supervisors and Trainees to support a safe learning environment that creates the best experience for everyone involved.
They will be instrumental in improving standards of supervision for Advanced Practice trainees and escalate a support plan to trainees who require remediation.
They will oversee Advanced Practice programme management and advise the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice on the following matters:
Advanced practice specialty-specific matters happening regionally and nationally.
Support recruitment to Advanced Practice training posts and programmes and manage trainee/trainer concerns.
Use educational resources to support learners within programmes to fulfil their full potential.
Advanced Practice programme management, including assessments, progression, support and remediation, trainee management, careers support and less than full-time training.
To work closely with the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice to support implementation of the NHSE Quality Framework:
To emphasise the importance and promote the development of a quality learning environment for all learners.
To advise the Regional Faculty for Advancing Practice on educational and workforce development elements, including:
Support effective ICB / organisational workforce planning that includes advanced practitioners across all healthcare settings and professions. Increase systems knowledge and understanding of the impact advanced practitioner roles can have on service delivery, service transformation, improved patient care, continuity of care and increase clinical decision making within the multi-disciplinary team.
To support the educator development and resource for faculty, trainees and learners.
To promote shared learning opportunities to increase effective inter-professional working across the region.
To support development of education where needed to support achievement of curriculum competencies, engaging with trusts as required.
This is an evolving role that allows the successful candidate to shape their role within the regional Faculty objectives, to be innovative and to have a positive effect upon future Advanced Practice learners within the region.

Salary Progression
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8b with a full-time starting salary of £58,972, with a pay step increase after 5 years’ service.
These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
