- Oversee the coordination and management of all freight transportation activities, including outbound and inbound shipments, ensuring timely deliveries and effective route planning.
- Collaborate with transportation service providers, negotiate contracts, and build strong partnerships to ensure reliable and high-quality transportation services.
- Stay abreast of industry regulations, transportation laws, and environmental standards, ensuring full compliance and adherence within the transportation operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality, continuously analysing transportation expenses and implementing efficient practices.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the transportation department, track metrics, and regularly report performance to the senior management team.
- Implement risk management strategies to address potential transportation challenges, ensuring minimal disruptions and developing contingency plans.
- Evaluate and recommend transportation management systems and other relevant technologies to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Introduce and oversee sustainable transportation practices, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of the company's transport operations.
- Lead and motivate the transportation team, providing guidance, coaching, and fostering a positive work environment to achieve departmental goals.
- Attends customer reviews, producing statistics as required for these meetings.
- Performing 1-2-1’s on a regular basis with direct reports.
- Conduct annual PDR interviews with direct reports.
