About Refugee Action

Refugee Action exists to work with refugees and people seeking asylum who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes. We are a national charity with more than 40 years’ experience of empowering people who’ve survived some of the world’s worst regimes to secure the protection and support that they need to live with dignity and respect and build a new life in the UK. We do this by providing expert advice and casework, building the capacity of partner organisations and campaigning on the policies that affect them.

About the post

As a Trusts and Foundations Manager, you’ll be working within a highly motivated team, contributing to ambitious fundraising targets and objectives to ensure the long-term sustainability of Refugee Action. You’ll develop strong relationships with key trust and foundation funders, with a focus on proactively seeking opportunities to diversify the portfolio, while identifying and cultivating new opportunities. You’ll lead on the development and writing of inspiring bids and evidence-based impact reports, as well as supporting new, cross-organisational systems and processes for grants cycle management. You will do this through an anti-racism and anti-discrimination lens.

To succeed in the role you will need to demonstrate:

  • Demonstrable experience in relationship development and account management, with the skills and ability to cultivate prospective and existing funders to maximise funding opportunities.
  • Strong communications skills, with experience of developing compelling funding proposals, reports and presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Proven track record in securing and managing significant grants (six or seven figures) from trust, lottery, and statutory donors and the ability to work with complex data and materials.
  • Experience of bringing together a range of internal stakeholders and operational teams to lead on cross-team projects and bid developments.
  • Excellent numeracy skills and proven ability to develop budgets, monitor management accounts and understand funder finance reports.
  • Commitment to removing barriers to power for people with lived experience, and commitment to anti-racist practices.
  • Understanding of the trusts and foundations sector.
  • Understanding of how the UK’s hostile refugee protection system impacts those affected by it.

Those with lived experience as a refugee are particularly encouraged to apply
