Job description

Provide advice, counsel and leadership to unionized team members and managers within Strother manufacturing facility. Advise leaders on legal, labor law, regulatory issues, and risk management issues. Build strong relationships in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. The successful candidate utilizes experience or labor relations expertise to solve problems, develops and executes objectives for self and others, and can affect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated guidance and coaching to employees and managers within a complex business environment, with specific focus on: employee advocacy/engagement, HR fundamentals and process training, employee relations management, and workplace investigations as appropriate.
  • Provide employees and managers with an available first point of contact for questions and guidance on fundamental HR topics and issues; escalates concerns beyond their scope to Sr HR Manager.
  • Provide advice and counsel to managers and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of policies, procedures and practices at 100% compliance to promote an ethical and compliant work environment.
  • Assist with payroll and HR operations questions and issue resolution.
  • Provide strategic thought leadership on employee develop and organizational design.
  • Provide day-to-day Union Relations support including the negotiation of all collective bargaining agreements and dispute resolution at the terminal step of the grievance procedure.
  • Represent the company at all legal proceedings as it pertains to Union Relations and represent the company in Union Relations matters with unions at the local site.
  • Provide advice and counsel to management, Human Resource/Union Relations direct or indirect reports on contract language interpretation and other Union policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Negotiate the collective bargaining agreements, and terminal stage grievances.
  • Assist other functional support groups such as Compensation, Employment, Benefits, etc. in matters pertaining to union represented employees.
  • Establish and promote a cooperative and collaborative management employee work environment through the personal exercise of positive climate setting strategies and practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Labor Relations and/or 3 years' experience in Human Resources with strong exposure to Labor Relations.
