Role Overview:
As an Unqualified SEND Night Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing overnight care and support to children with diverse special educational needs and disabilities. Working alongside a dedicated team, you'll help create a safe, nurturing environment where children can feel empowered to develop their independence and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Daytime Staff: Work closely with daytime staff to ensure seamless transitions and effective communication regarding the needs and routines of each child. Share insights and observations to facilitate continuity of care and support.
  • Bedtime Routines and Settling: Assist children with special needs in adhering to their bedtime routines, providing comfort and reassurance to help them settle for the night. Foster a calm and supportive atmosphere conducive to restful sleep.
  • Responding to Needs and Emergencies: Remain vigilant and responsive to any nighttime needs or emergencies, demonstrating quick thinking and effective problem-solving skills. Prioritize the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness and Tidiness: Take pride in maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in communal areas, ensuring a hygienic and welcoming environment for all. Perform regular checks and tidy-ups throughout the night to promote a sense of comfort and well-being.
  • Record-Keeping: Keep accurate and detailed records of care plans, incidents, and observations, ensuring that vital information is documented and shared with relevant team members. Use electronic systems and paper-based logs to maintain confidentiality and privacy.
  • Ensuring Safety and Welfare: Prioritize the safety, welfare, and dignity of every child in your care, identifying and addressing potential risks and hazards. Implement safeguarding procedures and protocols effectively to promote a secure and supportive living environment.
  • Morning Handovers and Updates: Provide comprehensive updates on any relevant incidents, observations, or changes in the children's needs or behaviors during morning handovers. Collaborate with daytime staff to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of care.
