Job Title - VAT Accounting Supervisor
Reporting to – Head of Finance & Capital
Location – Ballymena
Salary - £45,441
Working hours – 37 hours per week – Monday to Friday
Job outline -
Hays are working with a local authority in the search for a talented VAT Accounting supervisor. The postholder will be responsible to the head of service for managing all aspects of VAT ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, they will also be required to act in an advisory capacity to the council.
Main Duties –
- Work with internal stakeholders to manage the affairs of the organisation in relation to VAT and other indirect taxes in line with relevant regulations and professional codes of practice.
- Ensure the integrity of regular tax returns compiled by the Team for the organisation and external clients.
- Provide advice to the Assistant Director of Finance on developments in the wider field of tax policy and the potential implications for the organisation.
- Prepare and present reports and/or briefing notes/sessions on implications of service developments, local and corporate initiatives, to challenge and influence discussions that ensure effective decision making.
- Comply with all the organisation policies and procedures.
- Maintain high standards of personal accountability.
Qualifications -
Applicants must:
have a minimum of a degree, or equivalent qualification, in a business-related subject.
AND
Be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have 2 years’ experience to include:
Producing regular VAT returns for an organisation.
Advising on VAT implications
Liaising with HMRC
Calculating partial exemptions
