Internal Audit department has a core responsibility as the third line of defence (3LoD) to bring a systematic approach to evaluating the adequacy, effectiveness and sustainability of risk management and internal controls systems. As a Vice President – Internal Audit, you will be responsible to undertake/lead audits, investigations and reviews in accordance with the established methodology and manage planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow up including the agreement and monitoring of the work. You will also participate in the creation of the annual audit plan and be responsible for the terms of reference, work plan and work papers. You will write reports and attend business committees as appropriate.
Key responsibilities
- Produce the annual audit plan – risk assess the universe and produce a plan
- Take responsibility for audit assignments across the Bank in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and quality standards. Assign work to team leaders and review the output. Participate in audit work as necessary
- Ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls are assessed and recommendations and actions are developed and agreed
- Form an opinion as to how effectively the business is managing risk and provide that opinion to the Head of Internal Audit department
- On an assignment basis, produce or agree the audit programme and then ensure the programme is completed in accordance with procedures with audit issues and findings being communicated to the auditee
- Take responsibility for the completion of the audit report
- Ensure audit actions are followed up
- Participate in business committees such as Compliance Committee and ad hoc working groups
- Assist the Head of Internal Audit department in carrying out any other relevant work
- Supervise/manage members of the team
- Acting as mentor and coach to junior team members and support others to develop
Requirements
- Degree educated within a related field or relevant professional qualification
- Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CIIA, ACA/ACCA, ACIB)
- Experience in Financial Services industry in the UK undertaking end to end Internal Audits – credit, trade services/finance or financial markets experience is an advantage
- An enquiring and analytical mind
- Excellent communication skills, including an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior stakeholders
- Take responsibility and ownership for delivering results through personal initiative and commitment
