The Role & Key Responsibilities
From your first day with us you will be part of a policing family making a real difference.
It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.
In this role you will be responsible for -
- Creating, maintaining and updating records in the ViSOR system. Specifically creating new Visor records on receipt of relevant conviction and or notification of a sex offender registration. Ensuring these records are accurate, consistent, relevant and timely, within MAPPA and ViSOR National standards.
- Liaising with the Public Protection Supervisor to assign an offender manager and allocate that record to that manager.
- Updating or creating intelligence records for all new offenders (except category 2 Level 1 offenders), recording initial information, intelligence and relevant warning markers. Carrying out quality control of ViSOR subjects and ensuring data accuracy and maintaining local systems supporting the management of offenders.
- Archiving ViSOR records at the end of registration periods
- Receiving correspondence into the unit, assess it in terms of priority and relevance and then forward to appropriate officer / manager
- Managing those subject to notification requirements under part 2 of the Sexual Offences Act 2003, Including undertaking home visits and liaison with other forces as appropriate, carrying out and reviewing risk assessments (eg OSP) and developing risk management plans for low and medium risk sexual offenders
- Attending and providing active input to Level 2 and Level 3 MAPPA meetings (with supervisors) in accordance with the MAPPA Operational Guidance, implementing actions from those meetings and contributing to other multi-agency arrangements as required
- Making applications for civil orders such as those under the Sexual Offences Act 2003. To give advice and guidance and assist with obtaining relevant orders through the Force Solicitor and the Courts
Keeping up to date with legislation, force policy, joint agency protocols and reports by outside agencies that may impact on the unit's work - Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
- High level of professionalism in answering phone calls and emails
- High levels of discretion around the appropriate handling of sensitive material
- Good computer skills with sound knowledge of using NICHE, VISOR, PNC, Microsoft Word and Excel
- Good capacity to prioritise workload
- Good ability to identify immediate safeguarding risks to children or vulnerable persons and raise these to an Offender manager or supervisor
- Good attention to detail and focus when inputting data.
- High motivation to assist the ViSOR managers with administrative process
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
