Working for a Local Authority in the East Midlands as a Waste Procurement Delivery Manager you will have overall responsibility for developing and leading our clients Waste Procurement programme with the objective being to achieve seamless, compliant and value for money waste services.
You will report to the Assistant Director and the role is responsible for leading and managing a multidisciplinary team, including officers from across the council and external advisors as required.
On a day to day basis you will be putting practices in place to ensure the programme is delivered through the effective use of resources, including (as appropriate) the project budget by forecasting and controlling the expenditure incurred related to the delivery of the programme. You will work in partnership with other senior managers, leaders and members to inform, challenge & influence the delivery of the Waste Procurement programme.
We are looking for an established manager who has operated at this level before and can confidently lead and inspire others. You will need to be able to show an excellent knowledge and understanding of the dynamics and complexities of public sector and the Local Government environment and its impact on service provision, staff and relationships with key stakeholders.
Previous roles will have given you the key skills required with regard to understanding the application of financial management, business case development, benefits realisation planning and supplier management.
The post will normally work remotely, and you will only be required to travel to the office for specific meetings as required by the procurement programme. On some occasions, this may be every day in a working week, but approx. 80 - 90% of your time will be remote.
