SalaryHunter Gatherer AHP have several very exciting locum opportunities based with a privately run prison service located in Bedford (please enquire for exact locations), for up to x3 Locum Pharmacy Technicians (community experienced applicants welcome to apply!) to join the prison dispensary and wing teams from February/March 2024 onwards, on contracts up to 12 months to cover three maternity leave posts! PLEASE NOTE - some form of previous prison OR hospital experience is desireable, however IS NOT an outright necessity, so community experienced Pharmacy Technicians or newly qualified Pharmacy Technicians are also welcome to apply as training will be provided here! There is free parking available on site at this prison. This is a fantastic chance for career progression at speed, as training will be provided across the various dispensary aspects of the role depending on your skill set.
The role as a locum Pharmacy Technician here, will be to cover the dispensary, assisting with dispensing and screening, and also to complete the medicines administration work in the medicines hatch which is on the wings. The wing work will involve handing prescription mediciation to prisoners via a small hole in the medicines hatch door. This will be the majority of the work.
The working pattern is 7am - 5.30pm (60 mins lunch) however they may be flexible on these times, and also part time working will be considered, 2, 3, 4 or 5 days per week would be fine here. There is also weekends available too!
Applicants must have some form of pharmacy experience as a GPHC registered Pharmacy Technician, whether from the community or prison sector. As seen above, prior prison experience (and clearance) is NOT a must here, so it offers the chance for a Pharmacy Technician to break into the prison sector, and kick start their career!
This prison service is seeking cover immediately (from February/March 2024 onwards), and the roles will be a contract length of up to 12 months, as these are maternity cover posts.
