I now have the pleasure of supporting Sheffield CC to engage a Sessional Youth and Community worker, temp ongoing.

Youth club work!! Evening work! 

17.45 – 20.15 each night. 

various locations over Sheffield (TBC)

This is the outline of the role.

 
Youth clubs support young people aged 13-17yrs (up to 25yrs for SEND) to gain personal and social development opportunities enabling them to thrive into adulthood. Youth club sessions are delivered mainly in the evenings in various locations across the city. During school holidays daytime sessions are often delivered through a holiday programme of activities.
Sessional youth workers contribute to the youth programme delivery and ensure activities which are fun, safe, and educational e.g., learn new things, develop interpersonal skills, gain confidence and self-esteem, seek advice, and reduce the risk of becoming involved in unsafe activity.
Main Responsibilities and Duties:
Supporting to deliver services in line with SCC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Supporting and taking an active role in delivering a curriculum programme of activities which promote young people’s social, educational, and personal development.
Assisting with general youth work, signposting, and giving advice.
Providing young service users with a suitable role model
Supporting all staff in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and reporting any concerns to relevant staff members. Acting professionally and maintaining appropriate boundaries
Supporting staff in enforcing the Youth Club boundaries and code of conduct to ensure that it remains a safe environment for all young people, staff, volunteers, and visitors.
To build a rapport with young people and listen to their concerns, views, and opinions.
To facilitate and participate in games, activities, and discussions with young people
To assist with necessary programme set-up and clean-up
To contribute to the sessions briefing and debrief
To attend and participate in team meetings and one to one supervision meetings
Attend relevant training courses/workshops (Induction, Safeguarding etc)
 

For this role I would expect to have worked with children and young people in a social care capacity, this could be residential, YOT work, or similar!
