Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £15,600.00 - £18,200.00 per year

Expected hours: Monday – Friday: 3:00pm – 8:00pm (25 hours per week)

Holiday Entitlement: 25 Days + Bank Holidays

About Coventry Boys and Girls Club (CBGC):

Founded in 1935, Coventry Boys and Girls Club is a registered charity that operates to serve the Coventry area. We provide high-quality youth provision for children and young people, ranging from those that just need a safe recreational space, all the way through to young people most in need.

Through expertise, members of the CBGC team thoughtfully combine their qualifications with real world experiences, empowering young people who may be at risk or in need of support. CBGC designs and delivers essential local resources that build resilience and aspiration in children and young people.

Position Overview:

This role is crucial in overseeing and coordinating programs and activities aimed at supporting the personal and social development of children and young people. This role typically involves a combination of managerial, administrative, and direct engagement responsibilities. This role requires a combination of leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with a genuine passion for working with children and young people. The successful candidate will be empathetic, adaptable, and committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children and young people.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement youth programs that address the physical, emotional, and educational needs of young people.
  • Work across all open access youth sessions and youth clubs.
  • Coordinate schedules, resources, and logistics for youth activities and events.
  • Ensure that programs align with organisational goals and objectives.
  • To plan youth work programmes and events in consultation with young people and the Youth Work Manager.
  • To be aware of the CBGC’s aims, organisational values and behaviours and their impact on this post.
  • To carry out the duties of the post in accordance with the CBGC’s policies.
  • Staff Management – supervise, develop and lead sessional staff, volunteers and student placements ensuring they are clear on their roles and responsibilities.
  • To lead on safeguarding within the youth provision.
  • To complete and update necessary records involved with the sessions such as ensuring that all session registers, consent forms and incident forms are completed and updated on the internal database.
  • Supervise and support staff in their roles, ensuring a positive and inclusive working environment.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among team members.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with community partners, schools, parents, and other external agencies.
  • Collaborate with other organisations to enhance the range of services available to young people at CBGC.
  • Implement strategies to empower young people, fostering their self-esteem, resilience, and leadership skills.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to help children and young people navigate challenges and make positive life choices.
  • Facilitate workshops and activities that promote personal and social development.
  • Prepare regular reports for management and funders.
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes based on feedback and evaluation results.
  • Advocate for the needs and rights of children and young people.
  • Stay informed about relevant policies and issues affecting young people, and actively participate in advocacy efforts.
  • Facilitate staff meetings, debriefs and 1:1's with the youth provision team.
  • Design, create and implement activities keeping youth sessions fun and engaging.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Assist with behaviour management and conflict resolution as needed.
  • Keeping social media up to date.

Necessary Attributes:

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • A clear, consistent, and confident communicator.
  • Detail oriented and have a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Organised, with excellent time-management skills.
  • Able to manage a workload under time constraints, prioritising necessary tasks.
  • A dedicated team player, with an approachable, friendly, and professional attitude.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Able to quickly familiarise themselves with in house systems.
  • Creative.
  • Positive role model.
  • Fun and outgoing.
  • Previous experience working with children or youth in a mentoring or educational capacity.
  • Knowledge of special education principles and practices is desired.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Qualifications:

- First Aid - Or willing to work towards.

- Youth Work Level 3 - Or willing to work towards.

- Safeguarding - Or willing to work towards.
