We are seeking a skilled 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to support a pupil in Year 1 who has a diagnosis of autism. The successful candidate will support this pupil on a 1 to 1 basis but also working with small groups of pupils and in the classroom setting. The successful candidate would be expected to support pupils with social communication difficulties and learning needs. We are a good school seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and caring Learning Support Assistant with a "can-do" attitude who is committed to raising standards for those they work with. You will need to have an ability to work flexibly and with enthusiasm. You will work in partnership with class teachers and the SENCO, to support learning in line with the National Curriculum, codes of practice, school policies and procedures.
The successful candidate should have the following:
- Experience of supporting children in a school setting
- Experience of working with children with additional needs
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Experience of supporting pupils with a range of needs e.g. Autism, ADHD, SEMH, Learning and speech and / or language difficulties
- Knowledge of successful strategies to engage pupils with specific and significant needs
- Is able to demonstrate patience, calmness and flexibility at all times
- A commitment to high achievement from pupils and themselves
- Excellent organisation and inter-personal skills
- Good standard of education: Maths and English GCSE grades A-C or equivalent
- Good knowledge of ICT
- Flexibility and a good sense of humour
- The ability to use their own initiative
- Willing to undertake training and support individual needs
