Newport is a leading council with a great deal to offer. Our housing and communities services have delivered excellent outcomes for our residents and we are looking for someone to join our passionate team.
Following an ambitious restructuring of our teams, this post replaces the role of Temporary Accommodation Manager to ensure we are fit for the future and ready to meet our challenges and vision as a council.
It is truly an exciting time to be leading the team that manages Temporary, Transitional and Settled housing to respond to homelessness in Newport with the provision of accommodation that complies with all legislative requirements. We operate property leasing schemes and the team also leads on liaising with landlords and agents to enable clients to access the private rented sector to reduce homelessness. There is ample opportunity to shape services and make your mark in Newport.
The authority is in the process of reassessing the housing and housing-related support needs of Newport’s citizens which will emerge from the completion of an up-to-date Local Housing Market Assessment.
We are also delivering initiatives to support the Welsh Government’s vision to end homelessness including implementing the Ending Homelessness Action Plan and developing a Rapid Rehousing Transition Plan.
You will help transform these aspirations into reality by working with colleagues to support the authority’s vision of delivering innovative housing and support solutions via both existing and emerging funding streams.
You will also provide effective leadership and act as a key enabler to ensure engagement with and from relevant colleagues across the Council and partner organisations.
We are seeking an ambitious individual with a passion for making a difference to communities in the field of housing. This post offers a wide range of experience, challenges, and personal and professional development to the successful applicant. If you can evidence your ability to deliver effective services and outcomes in this field, we would love to hear from you.
In return for your commitment, we offer an open, friendly working environment with modern working practices and systems. Benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement, professional development, and flexible working.
Role Location – based in Newport city centre, with the opportunity for hybrid office/home working.
We welcome applications for all our jobs in either Welsh or English. An application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
