About The Role

The Role
Gateley Smithers Purslow are looking for an ambitious and technically minded Accounts Assistant to join our Accounts Team in Glaston.

The Accounts Assistant is responsible for assisting with the Company’s accountancy (Xero) and finance systems (BMS) in accordance with the appropriate company and regulatory authority legislation and guidelines. The job holder is expected to support the Finance Manager’s and the Directors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To handle the Company’s accounting and banking procedures and systems in accordance with company and regulatory authority legislation and guidelines
  • To produce and process invoices.
  • To assist with credit control for the Company.
  • Carry out general finance and administrative duties including invoicing, answering queries, taking card payments, closing projects, banking, and carrying out Financial CPD to staff. Monthly MI for clients and directors as requested. Support colleagues in delivering service standards.
  • At all times to comply with the requirements of the Company’s administration, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations.
The Person

Experience

  • Hold or be working towards an accountancy qualification
  • Experience of working with individuals across departments and liaising with external customers
  • Having worked within or managed credit control for a medium to large business
  • Experience of working within accountancy procedures
  • Experience of bookkeeping for a medium to large business
Qualities and Skills
  • Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience of a busy environment
  • Computer literate with an aptitude for numbers
  • Good time management skills, solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative but understand level of responsibility within the team
  • Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
