Our client, a long-established family-owned import and distribution business who have their own brands of products in education, retail and wholesale channels are seeking an Accounts Assistant/Bookkeeper to joint this friendly team and support the Finance Manager. This is an office-based role in Stretford, with lots of scope for career progression. The role will be:
As an integral part of the finance team, you will assist in managing the company's finances. This hands-on role requires flexibility, excellent communication, and teamwork skills. You should be adaptable to our dynamic business environment and willing to take on various responsibilities as needed.
* Setting up vendor & customer accounts
* Sales and purchase ledger reconciliation.
* Month-end journal posting.
* Credit control.
* Invoice discounting submissions.
* Multi-currency reconciliation.
* Checking, approving, and sign-off of supplier invoices, and preparing supplier payments.
* Calculating imported goods costs and updating ERP (MS Nav Dynamics).
* Updating internal databases and ERP.
* Supporting external family members with day-to-day finances and administration.
* Stock management, including entries and posting warehouse movements in ERP.
* Stock check, including preparing starting balance, reconciliation of physical counts, investigating and reporting discrepancies, and posting adjustments.
* Assisting stock controller in producing stock forecast reports.
* General office administrative tasks, such as sales order processing, raising pro-forma invoices, sales invoicing, and sales credits.
Progression:
With support and training from the Finance Manager, you'll have the opportunity to become proficient in all company accounting processes and tackle more complex financial challenges, including but not limited to:
* Preparation and submission of VAT returns.
* Monthly payroll and pensions payments.
* Month-end processes.
* Nominal ledgers.
* Cash flow reporting.
* Balance sheets.
* Profit and loss reporting.
* Management accounts.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Ideally AAT level 3 bookkeeping/accounting qualification.
* Experience working within an SME trading environment.
* Proficiency in accounting software, preferably MS Navision ERP or Business Central.
* Effective communication skills with confidence in presenting financial information.
* Please note this role will be office based 5 days per week.
