We are seeking a Tour Programme Officer to join the Aga Khan Library on a part-time basis (14 hours/week) for 1 year initially (with potential to increase for a further two years). Working 2 days in the office, you will be reporting to the AKC Gallery Curator and responsible for managing the coordination, administration, and evaluation of the AKC Tours Programme including the public, private, community, and institutional tours.
As the Tours Programme Officer, you will be working with the AKC Gallery Curator, volunteer tour guides, AKC staff and other volunteers.
Your duties will include the following:
- Coordinate the logistics of weekly public tours and significant annual tour projects such as Open Gardens & Open House including website management (Eventbrite and AKC website).
- Manage AKC Tour Log and programme development and evaluation plus contribution to monthly reporting.
- Assign available Tour Guides for all tour requests.
- Manage the compensation for volunteer Tour Guides.
- Arrange the training, development, and recruitment of both new and existing Tour Guides.
You will require:
- Previous experience in programme coordination, delivering and understanding of public tours, project, and people management.
- Knowledge of project management software/tool, including Microsoft Suite and Eventbrite.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of the institutional structures of the global Ismaili community.
- Excellent interpersonal skills- good team player with the ability to deal sensitively with people from a wide range of cultures.
- Tact, patience, and ability to work in a high-pressure and multi-cultural environment.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, multi-task and manage time efficiently and effectively.
