Job Summary:

We are looking for an Application Support Developer to be based in West Yorkshire.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Global Application support and development team, who are responsible for supporting the Web, B2B, EDI & eCRM systems that are used throughout the Farnell Group.
Joining an established support and development team, the successful candidate will work with Leeds based team and an offshore team who provide support for the Web, Middleware and data stores that underpin group global web operations. Specific experience beneficial in any of the following areas:

HCL Websphere Commerce,
Oracle Fusion Middleware,
SQL Based Operational Data stores,
Java,
Cloud awareness to support the journey to headless architecture will see us prioritise familiarity with
React JS,
EXO,
GraphQL,
Node JS,
Azure Kubernetes
Alongside this you will provide direct hands-on support of legacy IT systems and other solutions and services critical to business operations
(experience in C# beneficial to support and enhance legacy support systems.).

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Work with offshore teams to manage incident tickets and priorities, specifically investigating code defects, providing technical insight, analysing and pressure testing findings and contributing to code/quality corrections
  • Direct Involvement in investigation of Incidents and problems
  • Adhere to incident management controls, tools and SLA’s
  • Support the Application Support manager and Application support Analyst with critical issues
  • Manage the continual development of the knowledgebase & documented procedures
  • Supports change readiness initiatives as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Level Specifications:
  • Must be approachable and have excellent interpersonal skills both on the phone and in person.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt easily and handle crisis situations.
  • Be ambitious and strive for continuous improvement, both for the team, and personally.
  • Socially confident, with strong influencing skills
  • Methodical, analytical, and conscientious approach, particularly regarding customer service.
  • Able to learn new systems quickly.
  • At ease working under pressure to cost and time deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Flexible approach – the position may occasionally be required to provide out of normal office hours support

Work Experience:
  • Typically 2+ years ideally with bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be illustrated.
  • Prior experience with 1 or more of the following
  • HCL Websphere Commerce,
  • Oracle Fusion Middleware,
  • SQL Based Operational Data stores,
  • Java,
  • Cloud awareness to support the journey to headless architecture
  • React JS,
  • EXO,
  • GraphQL,
  • Node JS,
  • Azure Kubernetes
