Main Duties
We are looking for an Art Director to lead and innovate the visual and artistic direction of MOJEH, creating engaging presentations across print and digital platforms from design to production.
This is a freelance position with the potential to transition into a permanent role after a few months based on performance and mutual interest.
Responsibilities:
• Design and Visual Execution: Conceptualise and execute visually appealing and error-free layouts for cover pages, feature stories, and advertising sections.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the editorial, advertising sales teams, and other stakeholders to confirm design elements complement and enhance the content, and to collect visual assets for page design.
• Production: Manage the production process for timely completion, colour accuracy, and quality control from concept to final print.
• Innovation and Trends: Stay informed about current design trends, techniques, and technologies, integrating them into the magazine’s strategy to maintain a competitive edge.
• Pitching Photo Shoots: Work with the editorial team to develop photoshoots campaigns that are both visually compelling and aligned with the magazine’s brand values.
• Digital Edition Responsibilities: Adapt and translate print layouts to the digital editions, collaborate with the digital team to incorporate interactive elements for digital formats where appropriate. Utilise analytics tools to monitor user engagement and inform design strategies for digital platforms.
Skills and Experience Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Art, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in layout and page design preferably within the fashion magazine industry (i.e. 3 years minimum, full-time)
• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Exceptional creative vision and understanding of design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory.
• Leadership skills with experience managing creative teams and collaborating with cross-functional departments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with editorial and digital teams.
