Assistant Accountant

Thrive Homes is looking for a Financial Assistant to join our team.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and have experience in handling financial-related tasks.
You will be responsible for assisting the finance team with managing rent receipts, inputting them into the general ledger and handling rent adjustments and re-lets. Proactively you will also provide all necessary supporting documents for any payments that need to be made to claim a grant. This will help make the payment process smoother and more efficient.

Other Responsibilities:
- Provide system training and advice on purchase-to-pay system to current and new budget holders.
- Prepare supplier payments for review and authorisation.
- Reconcile Debtors and Creditors ledger and review aged transactions.
- Provide statistical reports to all relevant parties.
- Process invoices and reconcile supplier statements, as well as handle related queries.
- Process payments made by direct debit.
- Raise invoices to managing agents and perform credit control.
- Perform journals and monthly general ledger reconciliations.
- Manage and reconcile petty cash.
- Follow up on unapproved invoices and calculate accruals for management accounts.
- Manage transactions through the electronic purchase order system.
- Procurement checks of suppliers and adding banking info in the ledger.
- Perform bank reconciliations of all bank accounts.
Requirements:
- AAT qualification (or equivalent) or substantial experience
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication skills.
- Social housing experience and knowledge is preferred but isn’t essential.
