Location - Birmingham

Salary - Base salary: £30,150 pa to c.£37,700 pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website

As an Assistant Commercial Manager you will provide commercial support across L&P’s contracts portfolio. L&P has
a growing portfolio of contracts, including both standard government forms (for example Crown Commercial
Services, G-cloud, NEC3 contracts and HS2 T&Cs). HS2 Ltd uses its contract models to ensure that it complies
with statutory requirements along with relevant government policies to deliver value for money

About the role:

  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
  • Assist the Commercial Manager in their duties of managing L&Ps portfolio up to a combined value of £55M.
  • Contribute to the administration of L&P contracts.
  • Assist in drafting documents to progress change requests through the company’s governance structure, systems and in association with other HS2 functions.
  • Assist in reviewing the suppliers monthly dashboard against the employer’s instructions issued via Cemar and the information submitted on the monthly application for payment.
  • Review and assess the suppliers monthly application for payment, and close-out any queries raised within a timely manner.
  • Review supplier performance against KPIs and performance measures.
  • Assist in the calculation of service credits and warranty payments.
  • Work with the contract management team to achieve value for money at each stage of the contract.

Additional duties may include:

  • Setting up and facilitating meetings and information sharing with other functional areas.
  • Ad hoc support to high-profile projects.

About You:

SKILLS

  • Basic knowledge of different forms of contract and risk allocation.
  • Excellent Stakeholder management skills.
  • Good attention to detail, especially with regards to contract documentation.
  • Excellent administrative skills, able to switch between tasks without losing concentration.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of contract management systems.
  • Knowledge of contract types and contract management processes.
  • Knowledge of contract KPIs and performance measures.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement lifecycles and stages.

TYPE OF EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working in a commercial environment.
  • Experience in an assistant contract or commercial management role.
  • Stakeholder and supplier management skills.
  • Experience with a good range of programmes and software (Excel, SAP, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access, Project).
