The opportunity
To lead the delivery of contract commercial support in winning work, new contract negotiations and driving efficiencies on existing contracts by reviewing and advising on legal and commercial matters. Supports the Commercial Director in the setting of standards, policies, and procedures and actively champions and enforces their uptake. Leverages commercial expertise to provide commercial support to accounts and senior leaders, advising on legal, financial, and commercial risk and opportunities.
Job Responsibilities:
Leads on the review of legal and commercial terms including indemnities, liabilities, payment mechanisms, KPIs, scope and specifications in support of winning work, contract negotiations and driving efficiencies on existing contracts.
Leads on contract negotiations to ensure a commercially sound deal is achieved (with support from legal).
Collaborates with other support functions to identify and understand contractual, financial, and commercial risks and opportunities during bids and negotiations and ensure they are managed through to a positive commercial outcome during operational delivery.
Undertakes Head Contract Commercial Reviews to enable contract sign-off and identifying key legal and commercial conditions.
Responsible for ensuring the contract register is up-to-date, accurate and maintained by the sector leads and contract managers.
Inputs to contract mobilisations and provides knowledge transfer of negotiated contract provisions to operational stakeholders.
Provides seamless knowledge transfer from bid to account teams during mobilisations and undertakes mentoring and support for further identification of risks and opportunities by the account management teams.
Supports on supplier contract negotiations, contract variations and advises account teams on the identification and management of contract risks and opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have:
Professional membership or working towards MRICS/RICS or equivalent.
Expert in commercial contract management.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of contract terms and conditions
Excels in managing risks, opportunities and change control.
Highly experienced in resolving complex issues
Experience at leading Contract negotiations
Influencing and negotiation skills
An effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Problem solving and analytical skills
Leads on the resolution of complicated risk management issues.
Identifying and participating in new initiatives that add value that lead to service and/or process improvements
