THE ROLE

The School of Computing and Digital Technology is expanding its key teaching and research strategic academic area around Future Communication Systems 5G/6G and beyond by creating this exciting job opportunity.

This job opportunity will bring together big data, IoT, 5G, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in the area of Future Communication Systems. It is the next edge in the development of the global digital economy and digital society. 5G and Artificial intelligence present enormous opportunities to wider sectors and application domains such as smart manufacturing, digital health, and sustainable green cities.

To join our team for research and teaching, we are looking for a top-tier academic at the Associate Professor level. You should have a track record of excellence in Future Communication Systems (FCS) in both portfolio research and teaching. You will require demonstrable expertise in creating publications with a significant effect and producing world-class research outputs, including expertise in securing research funding. We are particularly looking for academics who can significantly contribute to our research outputs and academically taught portfolio of courses while also having a track record of technical competence.

The successful candidate will have an exceptional research track record and will be able to work across disciplinary boundaries. They will be committed to the highest standards of Learning and teaching, research culture, including research integrity, and creating an inclusive research environment. They will also have international research networks and excellent links with businesses.

FACULTY OF COMPUTING, ENGINEERING AND THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

In the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment (CEBE), we work to apply abstract intelligence to make a better, safer, smarter society. We have a strong emphasis on STEAM, with some of our teaching taking place in our award-winning new STEAM house building, where disciplines combine to solve real-world problems.

Our experts across the Faculty work not only with one another but across a wide range of disciplines, to solve real-world problems, and encourage and foster this spirit of Innovation in our students.
