Leeds East Academy is an over-subscribed 11-16 academy that has recently achieved the title of UK Parliament School of the Year. Role:
Under the direction of the Attendance Leader, the post holder will contribute to the implementation and management of the academy’s strategic priorities relating to exceptional student attendance.
You will assist the Attendance Leader with implementing the attendance strategy to achieve the highest standards of pupil achievement, through increasing attendance rates. You will rigorously apply the academy’s attendance policy ensuring students are always aiming for 97% attendance.
You will be responsible for the overall attendance for the allocated key stage. You will be required to support students and families at Leeds East Academy by working with local agencies, educational partners, and providers; collaborating with other staff whose work includes an attendance focus. You will be responsible for processing all paperwork including (but not exclusively) penalty warning letters, communication with parents and referrals to the Local Authority.
NB: All post-holders at the White Rose Academies Trust are responsible for improving the outcomes for learners and upholding the ethos of the academies. Keeping Children Safe in Education and the guidance for Safer Working Practices directs the work of every adult working at or associated with the White Rose Academies Trust.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• To monitor attendance across the collated key stage in conjunction with the Attendance Leader, identifying and prioritising focus areas.
• To produce and send letters regarding attendance and punctuality.
• To provide high-quality administration in relation to (but not exclusively) to penalty warning letters, referrals to the Local Authority and communication with parents.
• To maintain the monitoring of the progress of legal Orders, including Education Supervision Orders, Parenting School Attendance Orders, and any legal orders.
• To monitor the process of monitoring letters and fines (Fast Track Process)
• To manage attendance meetings at the family home and academy, discuss and support with attendance issues. Complete and record School Attendance Panel meetings including the outcome.
• To attend and provide information for meetings, regular Pastoral team and the attendance meetings with relevant members of the pastoral team e.g. Behaviour and Attendance Managers.
• To conduct daily home visits in academy vehicles including the minibus. Start and maintain attendance case files and track the progress of targeted students.
• Conduct and record welfare checks in line with academy protocol.
