Job description

Summary We are looking for an experienced Building Surveyor to join the Let Estate Management Team.  You will organise and manage; conservation repair, maintenance and project works across large and varied portfolio primarily centred on the Blickling Estate and North Norfolk.  The role may also support project works to rest of the region.  The portfolio includes residential, commercial, and agricultural properties which are occupied by our tenants, as well as holiday cottages. The role also includes the management of a small direct labour team based on the Blickling Estate. 
You’ll bring to the role a strong background in property maintenance and construction on sizeable property portfolios, ideally with a knowledge and good understanding of conservation of listed and traditional buildings, and associated building materials and maintenance techniques. 
This is a hybrid opportunity; we are happy to explore and agree working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. We anticipate you needing to be onsite at least 3 days a week in order to complete the requirements of the role. 
Due to the travel required for this role, you must hold a full driving license with access to your own vehicle, business mileage claimable through expenses. 
This role is available on a 3-year fixed term contract, offering a salary circa £40,000 per annum. 
What it's like to work here Reporting to a Senior Estate Manager and Senior Building Surveyor, you will be part of a dynamic Estate Management team. Working together and flexible, the team is focused on managing tenancies efficiently, effectively, and fulfilling our responsibilities as a good landlord.  
You will be working mainly on traditional and historic buildings, and you will be pivotal in preparing our let estate for the future, managing maintenance and projects works to a budget of circa £300 to £500k; and ensure high levels of quality. What you'll be doing We have big plans to improve the condition and energy efficiency of our Let Estate properties. You will set up and coordinate a programme of building condition surveys and develop a programme for future maintenance and project works, enabling better planning and budgeting going forward.  Working collaboratively with the wider Estate Management team to plan the workload for the coming year to ensure work is delivered in a timely manner, achieving the appropriate standards of care, maintenance and compliance.   Who we're looking for •Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Architects Registration Board (ARB) or the Chartered Institute of Buildings (CIOB)  •Experience of undertaking surveys and inspections, diagnosing building defects and specifying appropriate remedial works to traditional buildings, following best practice   •Experienced budgetary/financial management skills to deliver and administer works to a delegated budget.   •Ability to write preliminaries, specifications and schedules of work for required building tasks.   •Strong understanding of risk management (including CDM duties and responsibilities) and compliance requirements in relation to Let buildings and structures.  •Good knowledge and experience of relevant statutory processes for built environment (i.e. planning, listed building consent and building regulations).  •Effective leadership, management and supervision of direct labour staff.  •Good IT skills, able to use Microsoft Office and property management programmes.
