Salary range: £43,000 - £48,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job introduction


We are looking for a talented Agile Business Analyst, with a good balance of technical and communication skills. You will be working with a product manager, delivery manager, software and system engineers, user experience designers and editorial leads to understand problems and support the delivery of solutions that help shape the way live video is produced across the BBC.
Live streaming is an important part of the BBC’s digital first strategy for UK and worldwide audiences, with record breaking audiences coming to the BBC to follow live events such as Glastonbury and Wimbledon, as well as the Women’s Euros and Breaking News. We deliver services that enables content creators to quickly and easily live stream video from anywhere in the world to the BBC website, iPlayer and social platforms. We work with our own editorial development teams and content producers from across the BBC, from News to Children’s, as well as Sport and Nature, finding new ways to enable them to provide engaging video content online and reach new audiences.
We sit within the Production Workflows and Systems group, which is responsible for all of the BBC’s production tools and workflows for creating video – live and non-live, across television and online. Within the group, we have tools for shortform production, sport, news, television and more.

Main responsibilities


Working on the Live & Streaming team in Production Workflows and Systems you will help shape the direction for the product set, working to the Live & Streaming Executive Product Manager.
You will translate Product vision into discovery and development tasks and fine tune user stories with engineers, designers, researchers and testers so they’re clear, accurate, actionable and measurable.
You will play a key role in helping the team deliver value quickly, mitigate risk and hit quarterly objectives by identifying priorities and planning & managing workload.
You will work with technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating idea generation, sharing knowledge and building strong working relationships around a shared set of objectives.
You will be responsible for analysing data about product usage, identifying behaviours and insights to support decisions and recommendations.
You will have the opportunity to work across other product teams to solve common production and audience needs by developing shared solutions.

Are you the right candidate

  • Knowledge of business and data analysis tools and techniques such as: user story mapping, writing acceptance criteria, analysing audience and system data, business process mapping, facilitating workshops and user research.
  • Experience working collaboratively within an agile multi-disciplinary team delivering user-focused digital products and services, using Agile methodology.
  • Experience of working on media and/or streaming production workflows would be seen as a bonus.
  • Comfortable working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather product requirements.
  • Experience of working with analytics software to gather, analyse and report usage data and other relevant metrics.
  • Ability to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts and be able to explore them systematically.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, able to juggle competing priorities and take the appropriate course of action.
