The Business Risk Officer is a seasoned professional and applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes for the area or function. The role integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area and requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business.
The role evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. The ideal candidate will have good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources.
Responsibilities:
- Provide thought leadership in continually reviewing process and identifying improvements
- Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
- Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
- Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Trust Specific Business Risk Key Responsibilities:
Testing:
- Execute the Managers Control Assessment (MCA) program. Perform local and global testing for all Cititrust international centers (Jersey, Switzerland, Singapore & Bahamas), testing a wide variety of the business’ procedures and critical controls to ensure these are being adhered to and highlighting any trends or issues to the business.
- Liaising with senior management of any corrective action required as a result of the test findings and providing an analysis of the results.
- Responsible for the monitoring of any issues raised and tracking the status until the issues are resolved.
Transaction Trend Monitoring (TTM):
- Responsible for analysing third party bank statements with transactional activity, for both Jersey & Switzerland.
- Liaise with the Trust Officers, in the resolution of any TTM alerts raised.
- Escalate where required in accordance with procedure.
- Maintain detailed records of any transactions highlighted and provide monthly metrics.
- Perform a detailed monthly analysis of alerts, for a cumulative analysis.
Complaints:
- Maintain a record of all complaints received for Cititrust Jersey, ensure all information that is required from a reporting perspective is complete and up to date.
- Assisting the Fiduciary Services to ensure compliance with Cititrust’s internal complaint procedures and regulatory requirements.
Monthly Metrics and MCA Reporting:
- Monthly metrics reporting on BRM functions i.e. Complaints, TTM, Name Screening.
- Liaise with other teams to acquire their monthly metric reporting to be compiled into one report for Senior Management.
- Assist in the completion of the Monthly MCA Workbook and upload to risk system.
Name Searches:
- Complete all adhoc name screening for Jersey and Switzerland.
- Dispositioning of all alerts in the CX4/CW system for Jersey and Switzerland.
Ad Hoc Duties:
- Assist in the preparation of various deliverables for internal / external Audit
- Liaise with new business
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Project Management experience in financial services, control compliance or legal disciplines
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Outstanding relationship building and relationship management skills
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel
- Self-motivated and detail oriented
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
- Professional qualification for example STEP or willingness to study for STEP
