We're looking for an experienced Business Services Manager to support exciting growth for our client who is an Accountancy and Advisory firm based in Oxford.
Role: Business Services Manager
Hours: Monday - Friday - 08:30 - 17:00
Salary: £44,000 - £55, 000 Per Annum
Full benefits package available upon scheduled call.
As a Business Services Manager, you will be one of the main client contacts for a portfolio of clients which will include sole traders, partnerships, and limited liability companies, ensuring exceptional service is delivered on a cost effective and timely basis.
You will review accounts and tax work prepared by other staff members, providing supervision and training as needed. You will be asked to actively contribute ideas regarding the wider management, systems and processes and quality control of the team. It will be key for this role to be able to communicate effectively across all departments, working alongside other Managers to ensure a joined-up approach to client services.
A key part of this role is to identify general business and tax planning opportunities and implement solutions, and you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to the Firm's Business Development and Marketing activities.
You will line manage a small team of junior accountants, covering all aspects of the employee lifecycle such as training and development, sickness absence, and assisting with recruitment and selection activities.
About the Business Services Manager:
- To provide exceptional service to clients on a cost effective and timely basis in adherence to the Client Service Standards
- To be one of the main client contacts for a portfolio of clients
- To be responsible for the delivery of work within a reasonable time frame
- To manage your portfolio workflow across the full team's staff members
- To review work prepared by other staff members and provide guidance and feedback as needed.
- To identify business and tax planning opportunities and implement solutions.
- To be an active member of the Business Services Management team and lead by example
- To help prepare and then work to achieve revenue budgets set.
- To maintain a high level of CPD to ensure quality of work is maintained.
- Maintain up to date client database information.
- Undertake Business Development and Marketing activities.
- Line manager to staff to include all HR, training and study support areas.
- Embrace digital solutions and proactively manage change.
- First point of contact for the client portfolio
- Respond to client and third-party queries in a timely manner in line with the Client Service Standards Assessing when client work will be planned, carried out and completed for the work programme.
- Quality control reviews of files
- Actively manage both the client's and the Companies House and HMRC deadlines and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Work closely with the Tax Managers to ensure all work is available for the tax deadlines.
- Supervising and training of the team in the preparation of financial statements and basic corporation tax and personal tax work
- Supervising and training of the team to support their training and development.
- Reviewing accounts and tax work to ensure complete and accurate and providing feedback to staff as needed. Reporting to the assignment partner.
- Proactively add value to clients
- To meet with the other BSMs on a regular basis to ensure standards are maintained throughout.
- To work with the Partners to prepare revenue budgets and discuss recruiting needs.
- Reviewing WIP list and preparing bills as and when work and advisory items are completed.
- Actively contribute to the firms Marketing and Development activities
About You:
- Qualified ACCA or ACA
- with at least 3 years of experience in practice and are committed to your continued professional development.
- Have a demonstrable background within an established and reputable accountancy firm(s).
- Have a good technical grasp of all tax, accounting and commercial areas and be able to spot advisory opportunities.
- Be comfortable with all forms of client interaction and forming close working relationships.
