This is an excellent opportunity to join a very successful, values-driven national social care organisation with charitable status. The successful applicant will undertake the role of Company Secretary and will ensure that Creative Support operates within its charitable rules and ethos and complies with all the regulations and reporting requirements applicable to a charitable mutual society and a Registered Provider of Social Housing. The Company Secretary will support and advise the Board, CEO and senior officers on all aspects of governance and lead on the development and continuous improvement of corporate governance arrangements.
The Company Secretary will supervise and allocate work to the PA to the Board and liaise with other members of our central administration team to ensure efficient organisation and minuting of meetings and effective administrative support for the Board and sub-committees.
In addition to carrying out the duties of the Company Secretary the post-holder will lead on the co-ordination of the Corporate Strategic Plan and Risk Register and will undertake the role of Contracts Officer, undertaking due diligence and administration in relation to contracts. You must have knowledge and experience of the charitable, social care or social housing sectors. You will have a genuine interest in our charitable mission and a commitment to our values and person-centred ethos. You will demonstrate a highly professional and confidential approach and an ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others. You will be diligent and conscientious with excellent attention to detail, whilst being able to multi-task and work to strict deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
You will possess a degree and/or a relevant professional qualification and be willing to undertake further training in the areas of corporate and charitable governance. Legal training and understanding in the areas of governance and/or contracts will be advantageous.
You will have a high standard of literacy as you will be expected to review, draft and edit documents. You must be analytical and able to research, interpret, collate and summarise information as needed for the Board and senior colleagues. You will be proficient in using MS Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. A knowledge of project planning and programme management tools is desirable.
You will be required to work flexibly and responsively in accordance with peaks in workload. Your working hours will include some evening meetings, typically around 2-3 evenings per month. You will be based in Creative Support’s Head Office in Stockport which is close to the mainline train station and bus routes.
