Job Description:
As the chef you will be responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the kitchen and server area at all times. You will ensure that the service provided is in line with legislation and relevant standards.
Your main duties will include:
- Operations Management: Coordinate the daily operation of the kitchens and food service areas. Allocate tasks and ensure catering requirements are met while using resources cost-effectively.
- Food Preparation: Oversee and undertake the preparation of food, ensuring special dietary requirements are met. Ensure that food for residents and staff meets the highest possible standards.
- Staff Management: Provide day-to-day advice, coaching, and support to staff. Coach and support staff and residents to maximize their performance and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, legislation, and best practice standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor staff and residents’ daily performance and assist in searching residents as necessary to ensure standards, including security and Health and Safety, are met.
- Resource Management: Monitor and account for all equipment, materials, and items at all times to maintain security. Receive supplies, ensuring they are appropriately and securely accepted and stored.
- Documentation and Standards Compliance: Maintain accurate and current information, completing all documentation and labeling to meet all relevant standards and requirements.
- Kitchen Cleanliness: Manage the cleanliness of the kitchen and servery areas. Ensure that all equipment is maintained to ensure a safe and hygienic environment.
- Query Resolution: Deal with routine queries, ensuring resolution or prompt escalation to ensure the safety, security, and welfare of all staff and residents.
- Incident Management: Identify and escalate any incidents that may impact the smooth running of the centre or the safety, security, or welfare of residents, staff, and contractors.
Qualifications:
- City & Guilds 7061 or NVQ equivalent
- Level 2 Food Hygiene
- Previous supervisory experience within a busy catering environment is an advantage
- Must be willing and able to work flexibly on a schedule that could cover any day of the week (Monday-Sunday)
