About The Service


The Children’s Services Commissioning Team within Cardiff Council are responsible for the delivery of externally commissioned services to children, young people and their families known to, or involved with Cardiff Children’s Services. The service is committed to working with and developing the market to increase the quantity and quality of services available to Cardiff Children, Young People, and their families within the Cardiff area.

The Children’s Services Commissioning Strategy: Right Home, Right Support and Children’s Services Directorate Strategy, Delivering Excellent Outcomes in Children’s Services provides the basis for the activity we are undertaking.


About the job

The Cardiff, Children’s Services Commissioning Team wish to appoint a Commissioning Project Officer to work within the Children’s Services commissioning function in Cardiff Council.


Can you demonstrate effective project management, communication & critical thinking skills and experience of needs analysis & strategy development?


This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the services available within Children’s Services through activity with providers within the social care market and internal and external stakeholders. This will include the review and re-design of existing services and pathways the implementation of new services, pathways, and development of innovative solutions to meet the needs of our Children, Young People and their families. This activity will be crucial to deliver cost effective and high-quality outcomes for our children, young people and their families.

The role will be integral in its contribution to the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives of the Council and the Children’s Services priorities.


What We Are Looking For From You


We wish to appoint an individual who

  • can demonstrate effective project management, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • has experience of needs analysis and strategy development in a commissioning environment (this is an essential requirement of this post).
