Commodity Operations Executive
This is a rare opportunity to join an established and growing commodity trading business specialising in the physical coffee Trade. The role is within the Operations department who are responsible for all aspects of contract execution. The ideal candidate must be a team player, you will be expected to take ownership of your work from day one and in time, develop into a senior member of the team. Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage multiple origin shipment positions and organise container shipments from coffee growing regions
- Arrange and coordinate deliveries, from ex-warehouse to our customers specifications.
- Liaising with warehouse keepers for storage instructions, releases, customs clearance and delivery schedules.
- Stock reconciliations
- Communicate with financing banks for payment of document collections, opening Letters of Credit (L/Cs), issuing letters of acceptances and stock releases
- Accurately check and approve shipping documentation including, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, Certificates of Origins, Phytosanitary Certificates and purchase invoices
- Execute physical coffee contracts in accordance with the specific contract terms whilst maintaining a high level of customer service
- Insuring transport risks and accurately recording them
- High frequency interaction with customers, shippers, warehouse keepers, shipping lines and other service providers via telephone, email and IM.
- Update the integrated trading system with shipment information and raising invoices for shipments and deliveries.
- Issuing debit/credit notes to shippers and customers
- Checking invoices from shipper’s warehouse keepers and shipping lines
- Maintain shipping and contract date archive
- Provide support to the Quality and finance department for closing of the month end accounts
Required Skills
- Preferably 1-3-year experience working in Freight Forwarding, Commodity logistics, shipping line or related role.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work using your own initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Proficient IT skills and happy to use multiple software platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel
